New game
plan for
Wales U-18s

Manager of Wales’s under-18 women footballers Andy Beattie is revising his game plan for today’s clash against England in the second round of the UEFA Championship.
Beattie’s squad got off to a winning start on Saturday when Cardiff City striker Jenna Hopkins scored five goals against Turkey in Wales’s 5-2 victory.
Wales gained another valuable point in their battle for qualification for the UEFA finals when they drew 1-1 with Ireland on Monday in Dublin.
Hopkins extended her goal tally to six in the game when she nodded home a Michele Green free-kick.
Ireland piled on the pressure and several times looked close to scoring but the Welsh defence of Newport trio Emma Jones, Sam Cooke and Sarah Gregory held firm until the 29th minute.
Ireland’s second corner was half cleared by Wales goalkeeper Jo Price from Haverfordwest but Irish striker Samantha McCarthy hit the ball home to equalise.
The Irish enjoyed almost total domination of the second half and hit the woodwork three times but failed to score. Wales are now concentrating on today’s away game, their final group match.
WALES: Jo Price, Laura Roberts (Haverfordwest); Natalie Ashford, Helen Jones, Lowri Davies (Barry Town); Sam Cooke, Emma Jones, Sarah Gregory, Michelle Green, Claire Davies, Kelly Hughes, Lianne Robertson (Newport County); Jenna Hopkins, Joanne Jones (Cardiff City); Kerry Weaver (Bristol Rovers); Kelly Davies, Eleri Earnshaw (Bangor City).
